Viofo A119M Pro Review

One of the most trusted dash cam brands, and arguably their oldest and most popular series: Viofo’s A119 cameras have been around for almost a decade now, and they still break box office records. The A119v3 is years old, and it’s so good that we still recommend it as a reliable sub-$100 option.

As of mid 2026, the latest installment of this series is the A119M Pro. It features Wi-Fi 6, a Starvis 2 sensor, and of course true 4K resolution. Let’s have a look at what it can do.

Design

A119 is a one-channel (1CH) series, so the cameras record only the road ahead of your vehicle.

If you want to record the rear or the interior of your car also, there are excellent options from Viofo like the A229 Plus and Pro which are available both as a 2-channel and 3-channel setups.

The A119M Pro’s casing is similar to most other Viofo cameras: A wedge shaped device that sticks to the windshield with one of it’s surfaces, with a screen on the rear and buttons to operate the on-screen menus.

Of course, you can also control the camera by Wi-Fi or by voice commands. A remote button is available for the most important functions, such as locking the current video file.

A Quick Refresher On Loop Recording

These days it goes without saying, but in case you’re new to this world: Dash cams record videos in a loop. Once the memory card is full, they start overwriting older files, starting with the oldest.

So, if something happens that you wish to keep the footage off, you need to save the video. That’s what the lock file button (the large round button on Viofo cameras) is for. If you get the remote button, which connects to the camera per Bluetooth, you can place it in a convenient location on or near the steering wheel.

How Many Hours Does Ir Record?

So how long does it take until the device starts to overwrite the oldest files? That depends on two factors: The camera’s bit rate, and the size of the memory card. The A119M Pro has a maximum bit rate of approximately 37 Mbps, resulting in the following capacities depending on which card you’re getting:

128GB -> 7 hours

256GB -> 15 hours

512GB -> 30 hours

We recommend always setting your dash cam to the highest possible bit rate, to record the best available video quality.

How’s The Video Quality, Anyway?

Day time video quality is excellent (5 points out of 5). You can see every detail, every leaf on the trees, every blade of glass. Great performance here.

Night video quality is good to very good (3.5/5). You can easily read the license plate of the nearby car at time stamp 1:15, for example. But, plates are not always that clear; it depends very much on the lighting situation, angle, and relative speed.

Overall video score: 4.25/5. You can use this score to compare it to other 1CH dash cams using our comparison table.

Can It Record While The Car Is Parked?

Like all dash cams, the A119M Pro needs a had wiring kit (or some other power supply) to run in parking mode. The following modes are supported:

  • Buffered
  • Time-lapse (also has a “super night vision” option)
  • Low bit rate

You can either use the HK4 or HK6 hard wiring kits by Viofo, or a dedicated battery pack. We recommend getting the HK4. It’s cheaper, and the only difference between HK4 and HK6 is that the HK6 supports a hybrid parking mode that the Viofo A119M Pro does not currently implement (it may be rolled out in future firmware versions though).

What Else Can The A119M Pro Do?

We appreciate that this camera comes with a CPL filter. Many dash cams feature CPLs only as an add-on, charging $15-20 extra for it. CPL filters are great to eliminate reflections in the wind shield on a sunny day (learn more).

The A119M Pro supports Wi-Fi 6, which is a relatively new standard. Wi-Fi 6 is up to 3 times faster (under ideal conditions) than the older Wi-Fi 5 (which most devices use that don’t mention their Wi-Fi version).

Note that Wi-Fi 6 has nothing to do with the frequency. Any Wi-Fi version can use the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency bands.

Conclusion:

The Viofo A119M Pro is a state-of-the-art single channel dash cam as of 2026. It comes with all the perks a modern dash cam should have, such as buffered parking mode, Wi-Fi 6, Starvis 2, voice control.

It’s price is at the upper end of the spectrum, but so is is video quality. This camera is a top choice if you’re looking for a high-end one-way dashboard camera.
