Let’s have a look at the oldest and most successful dash cam series: We’re talking about Viofo’s near-legendary A119 cameras.
The first A119 came out way back in 2016. Back then, Viofo was a little-known upstart company from China. Slowly but steadily, they worked their way up to become one of the most trusted dash cam manufacturers worldwide.
In 2017, they released the A119v2. The A119v3, which is one of the stars of this article, was ready in 2019. And it is still available today!
How come a dash cam that was released 7 years ago, can still be among the top sellers in 2026?
It’s not that Viofo didn’t keep innovating. In the 1CH (single channel, a.k.a. forward-filming-only) department, the A119 Mini followed. That one was soon replaced by the Mini 2 — the second camera featured in this article.
And just last year, near the end of 2025, they brought out the A119M Pro. That’s the third dash cam we’ll be looking at today.
Since the other cameras of this series are no longer available, we’re focusing on the ones that are still going strong.

Our video scores go from 0 to 5. with 5 being best. (Here’s how that works if you’re curious.)
And now, let’s have a closer look at each of our three contestants. Which one do do you think is the best fit for your car?
Viofo A119v3: The Classic
A true legend. From 2019. And it’s STILL selling hundreds of units per month, even today in 2026.
This is hands down the only dash cam in the history of dash cams that still gets this much interest, after so many years.
Why? Mainly, because of its amazing reliability. You install it, and it just works. And it keeps working.
Details:
Price: Amazon US / CA / UK – AliExpress – more countries & vendors (ad)
Video quality: 3.5/5
Maximum resolution: 1600p
Size without mount: 3.3″ high, 2.0″ wide, 1.4″ thick
The GPS mount sticks to the windshield, and the camera slides into it.
Pros And Cons:
- No Wi-Fi. Nice if you don’t care about controlling it with your phone, deal breaker otherwise.
- Extremely reliable
- Its 2″ screen makes it a bit larger than the Mini 2 and the M Pro, but it also makes it easier to use.
- Great value if you manage to grab it somewhere below $100. It’s still good at $110 or so, but you could also get a newer model for that price.
Viofo A119 Mini 2: The Most Compact

This one was released in 2023. It costs about the same as the A119v3, but the casing is smaller. So is the screen, at 1.5″ diagonal.
Great if you like your dash cam to be small and discreet. And unlike the A119v3, it supports Wi-Fi, so you can watch videos on your phone or computer instead of on the small built-in screen.
Details:
Price: Amazon US / CA / UK – AliExpress – more countries & vendors (ad)
Video quality: 3.5/5
Maximum resolution: 1944p
Size: 2.9″ high, 1.8″ wide, 1.6″ thick
Pros and Cons:
- Has Wi-Fi 5. So you don’t have to fiddle around with the on-screen menus. Though you can, if you want to. But you can also control it with the app!
- Cheaper than A119M Pro, same price or a little more expensive than the A119v3
- Smallest of the 3 cameras
Viofo A119M Pro: The Latest Tech

The newest addition to the series. Released in late 2025, it supports faster Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6 transfers data up to 3 times faster than Wi-Fi 5), and quad-band GPS for ultra-precise positioning.
And the video quality of the A119M Pro is simply outstanding. One of the best single-channel dash cams on the market in 2026.
Details:
Price: Amazon US / CA / UK – AliExpress – more countries & vendors (ad)
Video quality: 4.3/5
Maximum resolution: 2160p (4K)
Size: 2.9″ high, 1.8″ wide, 1.9″ thick
Pros and Cons:
- Best video quality, better than all other 1CH dash cams (check our comparison table)
- Fast Wi-Fi 6 for quick video download
- Quad-band GPS
- Free CPL (worth ~$17 for other Viofo cams)
- But it’s more expensive than the other 2 models
Conclusion: So Which One Should You Get?
The A119v3 is best if you can grab it at a price below $100, and you don’t particularly care about Wi-Fi and connecting to your smart phone.
Alternatively, the A119 Mini 2 is the one you want if you DO want Wi-Fi, but you’re not ready to spend much more than $100 for your new dash cam.
Go for the A119M Pro if you’re happy to pay a bit more for the latest in tech: Best video quality, free CPL filter, fast video transfer, and ultra-precise geolocation.
