Hi, my name is Sebastian. Nice to see you here!
This web site was born in 2013 when I was looking for a birthday gift for my dad. I wanted to get him a dash cam, so I looked them up online. However, the review sites I found were very basic, and contained almost no helpful information. “I can do better than that!” I thought, and thus Dashboard Camera Reviews came into being.
Turns out a lot of people are interested in thorough, in-depth dash cam reviews, and the site attracted lots of visitors very quickly. Today, Dashboard Camera Reviews is one of the largest and most trusted dash cam review sites on the internet.
Business Model
Keeping this web site up to date is a lot of work, and without a financial incentive, I’d probably have given it up a long time ago.
I like to keep this site ad-free. However, like most review sites, DashboardCameraReviews.com contains affiliate links to various online vendors. If our articles help you decide which camera to buy and you order it through one of our links, we may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you (if you are happy with your purchase and keep it). Typical rates vary between 2-7% of the retail price.
We try to keep our affiliate links as unobtrusive as possible. While most other review sites purely focus on Amazon, we try to include alternative vendors wherever possible, so you can compare prices and choose the best deal.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
We also list vendors in various countries, to serve our international visitors from around the world.
Why Trust DashboardCameraReviews.com?
Having maintained this site since mid 2013, I have a pretty good idea of what you can and cannot expect from a dashboard camera, and for what price. I want you to be happy with your purchase, not just because it makes me feel I did a good job, but also because if for whatever reason you return the product, I won’t be getting paid any affiliate commission 🙂
So I do have a strong incentive to keep my reviews helpful and accurate.
You don’t have to blindly trust my expertise either. Have a look at the bulk of my work yourself: I’ve written in-depth reviews of pretty much all major dash cams, starting in 2013. Here’s a chronological list of all reviews, starting with the newest ones. Scroll down for a jump back in time to the models that were popular years ago.
If you prefer an alphabetical overview, you’ll love the dash cam index that lists all the dash cams we’ve ever had a good look at, including some of the ones we never did a review of. (This may be because the camera didn’t seem important enough, or simply because we didn’t get around to doing a full review yet.)
On a side note, the dash cam index can also serve you to quickly check out cameras that you’re interested in, or that you found recommended elsewhere.
Why Are You Often Referring To Yourself As “We”?
While this site is mainly a one-man project, I do get help from time to time, whether it be with hands-on testing of cameras, or with double-checking my spelling and grammar. So when I say “we”, it includes the friendly people who help me out.
Also to be completely honest, when I started this site I felt writing “we” sounds a lot more professional. So I’ll… we will stick with that decision for the sake of consistency 😉
