70mai T800 Review
The 70mai T800 might well be one of the most exciting releases in 2025. It is one of the first dash cams to record at 4K resolution both front and rear, with exceptional quality. A 1080p infrared interior camera completes the 3-channel setup.
In terms of features, the 70mai T800 comes with almost everything one could ask for in a modern dash cam: It supports fast Wi-Fi 6, cloud connectivity, CPL filters for both the front and rear channels, and various parking modes. The one thing it doesn’t have is buffered parking mode.
If that’s not a deal breaker for you, you’re going to love that the T800 comes with a 512 GB memory card included in the price. That’s sufficient for 14 hours of 3-channel recording, and it’s the largest memory card size this camera can handle.
The free 512 GB card is a major power move by 70mai. Most other dash cam brands don’t include a memory card, forcing you to order one separately. At best, you might get a low-capacity card included.
Let’s have a closer look at the design, video quality, and usability of the 70mai T800.
Design
The T800 isn’t exactly small, but with its wedge-shaped form factor that sticks directly to the windshield with the side opposite the screen, it is much less visually intrusive than cameras that use a separate mount. Build quality is good, and the device has a solid feel to it.
As you can see in the picture above, on the rear of the camera we have a 3″ screen (non-touch). Four control buttons below the screen let you navigate the menus. The user interface of the T800 is visually appealing and intuitive.
Interior Camera
To the right of the screen, we have the interior infrared (IR) camera. It rotates up to 45 degrees up or down, allowing you to adjust it to perfectly capture the passenger cabin.
Power Button With Ring Light
On the left side of the camera there is a large power button, which also serves as the lock file button when you short-press it twice.
Around the power button we have a ring light that indicates the status of the camera by its color: Solid blue means the camera is recording normally, solid green signals it’s connected to Wi-Fi, blinking red or yellow indicate errors.
Video Quality Ratings
As mentioned above, the T800 supports 4K resolution for both the front and rear video channels. The front and rear channels use a Sony Starvis 2 sensor, and all 3 channels support High Dynamic Range (HDR) recording. Starvis 2 with HDR is state-of-the-art in dash cam video as of 2025.
The interior channel is 1080p, and records infrared at night. Infrared LEDs around the lens activate automatically when it’s dark in the passenger cabin.
Our Video Rating System
To accurately assess video quality, we evaluated sample videos for each channel from users around the world. The results for this camera are quite impressive.
We rate videos from 0 to 5, assessing each channel by day and by night separately.

Front And Rear Video Samples, Day
Video during the day is crystal clear, both for the front and rear cameras. You can easily read license plates of nearby cars, even while driving by at high speed.
All details are crisply visible. Even the foliage of the trees next to the road is rendered with exceptional sharpness.
This is probably the best dash cam footage we have seen so far, especially for a rear camera. We’re giving the top score, excellent (5.0 out of 5), for both the front and rear channels.
Front And Rear Video Samples, Night
At night, video quality of both the front and rear cameras is good (3.0/5). We can read license plates of other cars by pausing the video.
In the second video, we can read the plate of a parked car even while driving by, at the 1:46 time stamp.
However, there is a lot of glare from street lights and other cars’ lights, degrading video quality a little.
Interior Video Sample, Day
Interior video during the day leaves nothing to be desired. Everything is clearly visible, even including partial footage out of the front side windows. Ranking: Excellent (5.0/5).
Interior Video Sample, Night
Night interior footage is good (3.0/5) with infrared. You can see the passenger cabin clearly. That said, we did notice some glare from the headlights of cars behind us.
Overall Video Rating
To calculate a dash cam’s overall video score, we average the day and night ratings for all three channels: (5+5+3+3+5+3)/6 = 24/6 = 4.0
4.0 means “very good video”. This is the best overall video score any dash cam has achieved so far. You can see for yourself how it compares to other 3-channel dash cams in our comparison table.
Other Features
Parking Mode
The 70mai T800 supports the following parking modes:
- Time-lapse: Records at a low frame rate
- Event: When the front camera detects motion, or the G-sensor detects an impact, all 3 cameras wake up and record for 30 seconds. Takes 1-2 seconds to wake up, so the initial moment of impact isn’t recorded
- Combined: Records time-lapse continuously, and 30 seconds of normal video rate in case of an event
Buffered parking mode is not supported. As usual, you need an external power source for parking mode to work, which can be either a battery pack or a hard-wiring kit.
Once you get back in the car, the camera will alert you if an event was detected while you were away.
Cloud Connectivity
To connect the T800 to the cloud, you need the corresponding LTE module (UP05 in America, UP04 elsewhere), a SIM card, and a data plan.
Connecting the dash cam to the cloud enables you to watch video directly on your cell phone. You can access the camera remotely through the 70mai app and switch between front, rear, and interior views.
Live view is possible both when the dash cam is in parking mode, and when recording normally while driving.
Other cloud functions include:
- Receive alerts on your phone in case of a parking mode event
- Track vehicle via GPS
- Upload videos to the cloud
- In parking mode, receive a notification when cut-off voltage is reached and the camera stops recording
Usability
We’ve found the T800 to be among the more user-friendly dashboard cameras, for the following reasons:
- Supports voice commands such as “take photo” or “record video”
- On-screen menus are visually appealing and simple to navigate
- Smart phone app is well designed, self-explanatory, and easy to use
- There’s a physical button to disable the interior camera for privacy (no need to enter the menus)
- Firmware updates are straightforward, and the camera doesn’t lose (“forget”) any settings in the process
- Can flip videos horizontally and vertically in the app
Other Features
The T800 supports Wi-Fi 6, which allows for 3 times faster video transmission than dash-cams that run on Wi-Fi 5 (most of them except for the Viofo A329S at this time). You can choose between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands.
There’s an option to enable a video overlay showing details such as your speed, GPS data, and distances to other cars in the video feed.
Another extra is ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System): This includes lane departure warnings, front vehicle collision warnings, as well as pedestrian and cyclist detection. Most drivers turn this off since modern cars have these features built in already, but it’s nice to have the option if you need it.

Users have tested the camera in a parked car in summer, placing it directly in the sun. One user reports that the camera got so hot that he could barely touch it, but it still recorded perfectly in parking mode without any distortion or malfunction.
The user manual for the 70mai T800 is well-written, but brief. It explains how to install and set up the camera concisely, without getting lost in too much detail.
Should you have any issues, 70mai — as a major player in the dash cam market — has a reputation for providing excellent customer support.
Conclusion
The 70mai T800 is definitely one of the best 3-channel dash cams on the market in late 2025. Video quality is better than any dash cam we’ve reviewed so far: Excellent during the day, and good at night. This is true for all 3 video channels.
The T800’s great reliability, usability, and professional customer support are the icing on the cake. If you can live without buffered parking mode, this dashboard camera is a fantastic pick — especially considering you get a 512 GB memory card included in the price.
