70mai M310 Review
The 70mai M310 is a single-channel (1CH) dash cam in the lower price segment. It doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles, in fact, it doesn’t even have GPS!
Nonetheless, its affordable price and 70mai’s reputation as a highly trusted brand made the M310 one of the most popular dash cams in the lower price segment.
Let’s have a look at how it works, what features it comes with, and of course, if the video footage it records is any good.
Design
This a simple, barrel-shaped dash cam. It doesn’t have a screen, so it’s quite small and discreet. You attach it to the windshield with an adhesive mount, so you can hide it behind the rear view mirror easily.
On the right hand side, there’s a power connector (USB-C), and a slot for the SD card. The SD card can be up to 256 GB in size. (Always use a high endurance SD card in dash cams – here’s why).
On the opposite side, there’s just a single power button with a color-coded LED around it (see the online guides referenced below to find out what the codes mean).
Long pressing the power button turns the camera on and off, obviously. Short pressing it toggles Wi-Fi.
There’s no lock file button, but the M310 supports voice commands so if you say “Lock the video”, it will do so.
Video Quality
The 70mai M310 has a maximum resolution of 1296p (2304×1296 pixels). We’ve evaluated a large number of videos, from users around the world, to determine the M310’s overall video score.
Video scores range from 0 (poor) to 5 (excellent) — for a full explanation of how our scoring system works, check here.
Day Time Video Samples
This video was recorded in twilight, but despite the lower light situation, its video quality is still good (3.0/5 points): You can read license plates when you pause the video.
This video was recorded in full daylight, and again, video quality is good (3.0/5). You can read license plates of nearby cars, but you have to pause the video to do so.
Night Time Video Samples
Night video quality of this camera is fair (2.0/5). As evidenced by the two videos above, you may not be able to read each and every license plate at night, but you can see what’s going on in general, and most license plates are readable when close.
Footage at night time is actually good when driving slowly on a brightly lit street, but it does degrade noticeably once you’re in a darker area, or driving faster.
Overall Video Quality
As a result, the overall video score of the 70mai M310 is 2.5 (the average of its day and night scores).

Parking Modes
Like all dash cams, the M310 needs a hard-wiring kit (UP03) for parking mode to work. It supports the following parking modes:
- Collision Detection: Wakes up when an impact is detected and records 30 seconds of video.
- Time-lapse: Records continually at 1fps
- Both combined: Records time-lapse, switches to normal recording when an impact occurs
User Manual
Since the 70mai M310 is relatively simple, its user manual is only 9 pages long. It explains how to set up the camera and its basic functionality, in excellent English, but it doesn’t go into too much detail.
To learn more about how to operate the camera, consult 70mai’s online guide. It’s a bit complicated to navigate — it would have been easier if they had just put all the information into one document — but it’s still usable.
Voice Commands
The following voice commands are supported:
- Take Photo
- Lock the video
- Turn on/off audio
- Turn on/off hot spot
Voice commands will only work while the camera is not connected to the 70mai app.
Miscellaneous Observations
The camera uses a Li-ion battery, which is less heat resistant than a camera with a built in capacitor. The user manual states you should not use the device in an environment hotter than 60°C (140°F).
As mentioned above, and unlike most other dash cams, the M310 does not support GPS.
A CPL filter isn’t available either, and there’s no physical lock file button — you can use a voice command to save your video, though.
Conclusion
The 70mai M310 is a reliable, but minimalist, dash cam. It’s a top seller in the lower price segment, and rightly so: It does what it’s meant to do, record “okay-quality” video.
It doesn’t have any extras or gimmicks. You get Wi-Fi to connect to the app, and that’s pretty much it. Voice commands are a welcome plus.
All in all, this is an good entry level dash cam, and great value for money.
Pros:
- Low price
- Various parking modes
- Small and discreet
- Voice commands
- Reliable brand
Cons:
- No GPS
- No CPL filter
- Battery instead of capacitor
