70mai M310 Review
The 70mai M310 is a single-channel (1CH) dash cam in the lower price segment. It doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles, in fact, it doesn’t even have GPS. Nonetheless, its price below $50 and 70mai’s reputation as a trusted brand have quickly made it one of the top selling dash cam after its release in 2025.
Ler’s have a look at how it works, what features it comes with, and of course, if the video footage it records is any good.
Design
This a simple, barrel-shaped dash cam. It doesn’t have a screen, so it’s quite small and discreet. You attach it to the windshield with an adhesive mount, and it easily fits behind the rear view mirror if you prefer to keep it out of sight.
A USB-C power cable connects to the right-hand side, and you need to tuck it behind your car’s interior lining and route it down the A-pillar to the car’s console (you can connect it to either an USB port, or to the cigarette lighter socket).
Next to the power cable connector there’s a slot for the SD card, which can be up to 256 GB in size. Make sure to use a high endurance SD card since it will be recording constantly while you’re driving.
On the other end of the camera, the left-hand side, there’s a single power button. Long pressing it turns the camera on and off, short pressing it toggles Wi-Fi (should be on usually so you can operate the cam with your phone). Unfortunately, the M310 does not have a lock file button. You can save crucial footage using a voice command (“Lock the video”).
Video Quality
The 70mai M310 records at 1296p or 1080p resolution. We’ve evaluated a large number of videos to get an objective video quality score. Video scores range from 0 (poor) to 5 (excellent). For a full explanation, check here.
Let’s have a look at some sample videos:
Day Time Video Samples
This video was recorded in twilight, but video quality is still good (3.0/5 points). You can read license plates when you pause the video.
Again, video quality is good (3.0/5), but you need to pause the video if you want to decipher any plates.
Night Time Video Samples
Night video is quality is good when you’re driving slowly on a brightly lit street, but it degrades noticeably once you’re in a darker area and/or driving faster.
Overall, night video quality is fair (2.0/5 points). You won’t be able to read each and every license plate in the dark, but you can see what’s going on in general, and most license plates are readable when close.
Overall Video Quality
The overall video score of the 70mai M310 is 2.5 (the average of the day and night time scores, 3.0 and 2.0). Have a look at our 1CH dash cam comparison table to see how it compares to other car cameras.
Parking Modes
The M310 supports the following parking modes:
- Collision Detection: Wakes up when an impact is detected and records 30 seconds of video.
- Time-lapse: Records continually at 1fps
- Both combined: Records time-lapse, switches to normal recording when an impact occurs
Like all dash cams, the camera needs a hard-wiring kit (UP03) for parking mode to work.
User Manual
Since the 70mai M310 is relatively simple, its user manual is only 9 pages long. It explains how to set up the camera and its basic functionality, in excellent English, but it doesn’t go into too much detail.
To learn more about how to operate the camera, consult 70mai’s online guide. It’s a bit complicated to navigate — it would have been easier if they had just put all the information into one document — but it’s still usable.
Voice Commands
The following voice commands are supported:
- Take Photo
- Lock the video
- Turn on/off audio
- Turn on/off hot spot
Voice commands will only work while the camera is not connected to the 70mai app.
Miscellaneous Observations
The camera uses a Li-ion battery, which is less heat resistant than a camera with a built in capacitor. The user manual states you should not use the device in an environment hotter than 60°C (140°F).
GPS is not supported, unlike most other dash cams. A CPL filter isn’t available either, and like we said, there’s no physical lock file button — you can use a voice command to save your video, though.
Conclusion
The 70mai M310 is a top selling dash cam, and rightly so at its price (currently, below $50).
At that price point, we can’t expect any miracles in video quality. The M310 does a decent job recording what’s going on though, even on darker roads. And you should be able to read license plates of nearby cars under most circumstances.
All in all, this is an excellent entry level dash can, and great value for money.
Pros:
- Low price
- Buffered parking mode
- Small and discreet
Cons:
- No GPS
- No screen
- Battery instead of capacitor
- No lock file button
- No CPL filter
