Lukas LK-7900 ACE Review

The Lukas LK-7900 ACE is one of our all-time favorite dash cams. It was released in early 2013 by the Korean company Qrontech and continues to be a top seller through today.

Belonging to the upper mid-price sector, the LK-7900 records very good quality video at day time, and good video during the night. While night video is not quite as sharp as with some of the more expensive cameras, relevant details like nearby cars, road signs, and license plates are still clearly visible.

This camera is rather small, making it very discreet when affixed high on the wind shield. It has integrated GPS, plus of course all the usual dash cam features like loop recording, date/time/speed stamp, auto on/off, G-sensor, and parking mode.

Optionally, you can acquire a circular polarizing lens (CPL) which reduces reflections on the wind shield during sunny weather. If you use a CPL, remember to remove it when recording at nighttime to prevent a dark video.

Apart from its high reliability and above average image quality, there are two main reasons why the Lukas LK-7900 continues to be one of the best dash cams out there:

First, it can operate within a very broad temperature range. It will function at temperatures from -20˚C to 80˚C (-4˚F to 176˚F). No other dash cam can withstand this kind of heat. This a definite plus if you live in an area where it gets quite hot inside a parked car. Storage temperature of this camera even goes down to -30˚C (22˚F) and up to 90˚C (194˚F), so you can be sure your camera will survive any weather and not freeze or melt in your parked car like some other models would.

Second, the LK-7900 is one of the first dashboard cameras that support 128GB SDXC memory cards, allowing you to record four times as much video footage than with most competing models. With a 128GB card, you will be able to record more than 28 hours of video before the oldest file gets overwritten.

All in all, the Lukas LK-7900 ACE is a top pick if you are looking for a camera that can withstand extreme temperatures, and with a high memory capacity. Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive for this dash cam, so we are definitely recommending it.

Video Samples for Lukas LK-7900

For original Full HD video quality, watch on full screen and set the video resolution to 1080p using the cog icon in the lower right of the screen.

Daytime sample video

As you can see, day time video quality is very good. Details are clearly visible, and writing on traffic signs and other cars’ license plates are readable even from a distance.

Nighttime sample video

While night video is not the best we have ever seen in a dash cam, it’s still good. There is a bit too much glare from traffic lights and such, but nonetheless, all important details (including license plates) remain clearly visible at night.
