KDLinks X1 Review
The KDLinks X1 is an increasingly popular dash cam that was released in 2014. It features Full HD video (1080p) and a wide angle lens with a 165 degree field of vision, capturing pretty much everything that you can see through your windscreen.
Video quality is very good at day time, and fair during the night. Details are generally clearly visible and you can read other cars license plates from nearby should you need to. However, the large viewing angle results in a bit of distortion near the edges of the screen.
That said, what really sets KDLinks apart from most other vendors is their outstanding customer support. Drop them an email and they will reply within 24 hours, no matter whether it’s during the week, or on a week-end or bank holiday. Often they even respond within a matter of minutes.
As a result, customer satisfaction has been excellent for the KDLinks X1, making it one of the highest-ranked dashboard cameras currently available.
Features include integrated fast-locking GPS with geo-tagging, so you can check your route once you tuck the SD card into your computer (using the software that comes with the camera, for PC and Mac). It also has Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) for enhanced night visibility. Loop recording, auto on/off, and time/date/speed stamp go without saying. A G-sensor is included for impact detection that will save video files during critical events, and you can also use the camera’s emergency button to keep files of important or interesting events.
To summarize, while there certainly are cameras that record better video quality at a similar price, the KDLinks X1 is an excellent choice for those who value a committed post-sales support. It is currently one of the best selling dash cams in the USA.
KDLinks X1 Video Samples
For full original video quality, make sure to watch on full screen and select maximum video resolution (use the cog icon in lower right corner). You may have to rewind the video after changing the resolution.
Day Time Video Sample
The KDLINKS X1 records crisp colors and clear details during the day time. License plates are fairly easy to read when up close, but harder when driving by.
Night Time Video Sample
Night video quality is fair, but license plates aren’t always easy to read due to reflections of your own headlights. This is a problem that most dash cams have though.
