Mini 0906 Review
Finally, a dual 1080p front-and-rear dash cam has been added to the popular Chinese Mini series. At a very competitive price for a 2x1080p camera, its video quality is well above average. It may not be the sharpest footage out there, but license plates are easily readable, both to the front and to the rear. Which is pretty much the point of having a dashboard camera, unless you are looking to create artistic videos of scenic drives.
Released in mid 2017, the Mini 0906 comes with the classic Mini series stealth factor, a tiny camera with a small 1.5″ screen that has GPS integrated into its mount. Equipped with Sony Exmor sensors, both the front and the rear cameras record at a bit rate of 12 Mbps.
Memory cards can be up to 128GB in size. The manufacturer recommends Sandisk, Kingston, or Samsung memory cards, class 10 or higher. With a 128GB card, you get over 11.5 hours of continuous recording front and rear, before the loop recording kicks in and overwrites the oldest footage. Of course, if the camera detects an impact with its G-sensor, footage of the impact will be protected from becoming overwritten. There’s also a lock file button to manually protect footage you wish to keep.
A CPL filter is included with the camera, which helps greatly with glare and reflections on the windshield when driving in bright sunlight. You can take this off at night if you feel your night video is too dark.
You can either connect the camera to the cigarette lighter, or hard-wire it (kit included) if you intend to use its parking mode.
In parking mode, the Mini 0906 records at a reduced frame rate. When an impact is detected by the G-sensor or motion is detected visually, it will record at the normal frame rate of 30fps for 15 seconds, then switch back to reduced frame rate.
It’s too early to say if this camera is reliable or not — we will update this review when we have more feedback from users. If it does prove to be reliable though, the Mini 0906 will make a great addition to the Mini series, providing good quality front-and-rear footage at a very accessible price.

For full original video quality, make sure to watch on full screen and select maximum video resolution (use the cog icon in lower right corner). You may have to rewind the video after changing the resolution.
Day Time Front Video Sample
Forward video at day is good. While it does look a bit warped, license plates of other cars are always clearly readable.
Day Time Rear Video Sample
Rear video at day is also good. You can easily read the license plates of overtaking cars.
Night Time Front Video Sample
At night, forward video quality is good. License plates of nearby cars readable most of the time.
Night Time Rear Video Sample
Night rear video quality is only average. While it’s good enough to see what is going on around you, it is hard or impossible to read license plates even of nearby cars.
